Hello, our names are Tami and Jan we are looking for any information on a family by the name of Fisher who lived in Bisley in the mid 1880's and moved to Canada in approximately 1886. The information we have on this family is as follows:
William Fisher was an only child whose parents were \"Gentlemen Farmers\" . He had at least six sons, one was Henry Auther Fisher born 1866. The other was Thomas Allen Fisher.
Thomas Allen Fisher (born July 26, 1854) married Sarah Mitchell (born February 5, 1857) about 1876. They had six children born in Bisley; Florence Mary (August 15, 1877); William Thomas Edward (April 16, 1879); Allen (October 1, 1880?); Lillian Fanny (March 26, 1882?); Laura (January 24, 1884) and Dora (March 10, 1886).
Thomas Allen Fisher was a gamekeeper at Bismore, Bisley for Sir John Dorrington (any information about this would be appreciated). The only other information that we have is a place by the name of Kitleigh of which we can find no information.
Any information on the people or places mentioned above would be greatly appreciated.

All the information that we have on the Thomas Allen Fisher family is from a paper written for a family reunion back in 1983 by Thomas' granddaughter who unfortunately passed away many years ago.
My own Grandmother who is now 91 and also a granddaughter of Thomas and Sarah sadly does not remember much of either one of them let alone the details of their heritage.
The only other information that I have I pulled from the internet. I did find Thomas A., Sarah (his wife), Florence (daughter), William T. (son) and Allen (son) in the 1881 Census where his occupation was listed as GameKeeper.
The listed neighbours were Eliza, James and Keshiah Buttler, Mary and William Davies, Raymon Pakets, Emily, Maria and William Young, Auther, Elizabeth, John H., Lucy, Margrat A.S., Mary, Noah, Thomas and William Kingsman and Henry Auther Fisher (Thomas' brother).
I originally thought that Auther must be misspelled also but that is how it is listed in the census. All of the above mentioned people are listed as living it Kitleigh, Bisley, Gloucestershire, England.
Could they have all worked in the same household? I realize some of these people listed were children. The various occupations listed were Game Keeper, Labourer, Domestic Servant, Gardener, Ag Labourer and Stick Factory Hand

I'm curious to note some similarities - and differences! - between your family history and mine.
My grandfather, William Fisher, was born in 1889. He was the first child of Edward Fisher and Anne (nee Winston) who went on to have another 6 sons and one daughter.
Edward was a cowman at Stancombe Farm near Bisley.
Edward's father was also called William Fisher. He was a gamekeeper born about 1828 in Mawsley, Cleeve, Gloucester. His father was also William but I have done no other research on this part of my family to date.

Hi there, as far as I am aware there are now Mitchells or Fishers in our family tree as far back as the 1700's. The Mills came from around Bisley and were in the cloth trade. They immigrated to Australia and then came to New Zealand a few years later. Hope you find what you are looking for. (Isn't that a song by U2). My huband's family name is Stone and Moss and I believe came from the Cornwall/Devon/Dorest area,
