Hi Brian, I am Stephen Blackwell Davis. My family has been keeping the Blackwell name as a middle name for the eldest son for five generations. My great great great grandfather William Davis 31/1/1808-30/5/1884 born in Bisley married Esther Blackwell in 17/12/1832. Esther lived from13/9/1807-1842 and was born in Gloucester. When Esther died William married her older sister Sarahin 1843. Sarah lived from 1805-18/10/1879. Esther had five children to William - Darius, Theyer, Seth, Arthur and Matilda. Sarah had two children to William - Emma and Sarah. Arthur Davis sailed to New Zealand in 1860. I have the family tree of the Davis' and have always wanted to research the Blackwells. Can you help? Cheers Stephen.

Hi Cousin!

It would appear that your Esther is my 4xgg Richards Blackwells older sister. Richard moved to Birmingham and started our branch of the Blackwell family, I was born there in 1944.

Richard was the son of Harry = Anne Hague 18 Sep 1805 Bisley

Harry was the son of Harry = Martha Dicks 21 May 1768 Bisley

Harry was the son of William = Joan ? and he was bapt. Miserden 12 June 1743

Thats as far back as I have been able to get.

There is one thing which needs explaining, I don't have a Sarah older sister of your Esther? In 1986 I was corresponding with Fred Hammond who was the local historian, he had his own transcript of Bisley registers and he extracted all the Blackwell references for me.

There was no Esther in his letter to me? could be a mistake but we need to clarify that.

I would be interested in exchanging family trees and finding out where you are in NZ. My wife and I went to a family reunion there in 1994 at Rossendale Winery in Christchurch.

Lok forward to your reply

regards

Brian Blackwell
